Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Italian car maker Automobili Lamborghini, poses next to a Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse car during the media day of the IAA (Internationale Automobil Ausstellung) international motor show in Frankfurt am Main, western Germany, on 10 September.
As its name suggests, this latest and most extreme model in the Gallardo line-up has been developed by Lamborghini’s new racing department Squadra Corse and features many of the same components used on the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo racing car.
Like the racing car, the new Gallardo comes as standard with Lamborghini’s robotised six-speed e-gear transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The hardcore Gallardo Squadra Corse gets the same carbon composite rear wing as the Super Trofeo car for increased downforce and stability during high-speed cornering, along with the racer’s quick-release engine cover.
