Rolex Yacht-Master - The Watch of the Open Seas

20 January 2023

Rolex’s special ties with sailing date back to the 1950s, when it began to support pioneering sailors exploring new routes and attempting new records. Often navigating single-handed, they were spurred by dreams and ambition, demonstrating incredible resolve in ever-changing, often perilous conditions.

Designed for intrepid navigators and race skippers, the first watch in the Yacht-Master range was presented in 1992 in 18ct yellow gold – the first Professional model to debut in precious metal – featuring a white dial with contrasting black hour markers, and a 40mm case.

Three decades later, the Yacht-Master 42 is unveiled in an 18ct yellow gold version with a black dial and Chromalight hour markers. Its rotatable bezel’s insert is made of high-tech ceramic and retains the raised, polished numerals found on the original model – a signature feature of the Yacht-Master range.

The Yacht-Master is also the only Rolex Professional-category watch that is available in 3 sizes - 37, 40 and 42 MM.
