Longines honors the lunar year with a poetic Master Collection Year of the Horse edition #YearoftheHorse
By SENATUS Magazine | 6 January 2026

Longines celebrates the beginning of the lunar year by unveiling a masterful special edition of its iconic Master Collection. This limited release serves as a sophisticated tribute to the horse, an animal that represents resilience and pioneering spirit while reflecting the brand’s deep historical ties to the equestrian world. Through a unique collaboration with the Peon Art Museum in China, the timepiece integrates high art with Swiss precision.

The watch is defined by a striking red sunray brushed dial with a subtle gradient designed to evoke the auspicious atmosphere of a sunrise. Applied gilt indexes and elegantly shaped hands enhance the refined aesthetic, while a moonphase display and date indicator are positioned gracefully at six o'clock. Housed in a forty-two millimeter stainless steel case, this edition is limited to precisely 2,026 pieces worldwide.

The soul of the piece lies in its movement, featuring the exclusive Longines L899.5 self-winding calibre. Visible through a transparent case back, the gilt rotor is meticulously engraved with the iconic Galloping Horse motif by renowned modern artist Peon Xu. Xu was celebrated for his ability to blend Western techniques with the lyrical vitality of Chinese ink art, and this design allows the horse to appear as if it is in motion with every movement of the wearer’s wrist.

This horological artwork is curated by the artist’s son, esteemed calligrapher Qingping Xu, ensuring the preservation of the family's creative legacy. The movement is further characterized by a seventy-two hour power reserve and a silicon balance spring that offers exceptional resistance to magnetic fields and temperature variations. Completed with a classic black leather strap and a stainless steel folding clasp, the timepiece stands as a symbol of momentum and success.
