Hermès invites us to rediscover the whimsical charm of the animal kingdom through the Arceau Jour de casting collection.
Originally designed by Henri d'Origny in 1978, the Arceau silhouette is celebrated for its asymmetrical lugs inspired by the equestrian world of stirrups. In this new bestiary inspired by artist Liz Stirling’s silk scarf designs, the maison presents three mischievous dogs named Orson, Amy, and Taco. Each portrait is a masterclass in horological artistry, featuring a unique leather bone at the center as a nod to the house's storied leatherworking heritage.
The black and white Orson is a technical feat of wood marquetry, where eight different types of wood are meticulously cut and assembled like a jigsaw puzzle. Amy makes a vibrant appearance in the engraver’s workshop, where subtle brushstrokes and successive firing operations create a rich color palette and textured spectacles. Taco completes the trio with laughing eyes rendered in miniature and cloisonné enamel. This delicate technique uses gold wires to delineate the design before it is filled with enamel and fired to achieve a refined, multidimensional finish.
Every model is framed by a 38 mm white gold case that sparkles with seventy-one diamonds and a rose-cut diamond set into the crown. Powering these playful companions is the mechanical self-winding Manufacture Hermès H1912 movement, which is crafted in Switzerland and offers a fifty hour power reserve. To complete the ensemble, each watch is paired with a Swift calfskin strap in colors like Noir, Ambre, or Bleu jean to match the individual limited editions.
These numbered series are restricted to either twelve or twenty-four pieces, ensuring that each timepiece remains a rare and soulful object of time.
