TAG Heuer has announced the return of a legendary sailing model with the launch of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer. This release follows the 2023 introduction of the modern Skipper and continues to celebrate the brand's deep maritime heritage. The new timepiece is a contemporary interpretation of the historic Seafarer tide watch which originally debuted in 1949.

The original concept for a tide indicator was commissioned by Walter Haynes of Abercrombie & Fitch. A young Jack Heuer assisted in the development of the early mechanism by consulting his physics teacher to improve the accuracy of the gear ratios. This new version maintains that functional legacy by using the in-house TH20-04 automatic movement which was specifically developed to include the tide indicator.

The watch features a 42mm fine brushed and polished steel case utilizing the signature glassbox design. This construction includes a domed sapphire crystal that enhances legibility while navigating or sailing. The opalin champagne dial is accented with 18k 3N yellow gold-plated indexes and a triangular marker at the twelve o'clock position.

Functionality is centered around the tide indicator at nine o'clock which is adjusted using a dedicated button on the side of the case. The tide disc rotates once every 29.53125 days to track high and low tide times accurately. This display is highlighted in Intrepid Teal and dark yellow to mirror the aesthetic of the original vintage pieces.

TAG Heuer has equipped the timepiece with a seven-row steel bracelet that reinterprets a classic beads of rice design for modern comfort. Owners will also receive an additional beige sports strap with a lining that matches the teal details of the dial. The watch provides an 80-hour power reserve and is water resistant up to 100 meters.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer is scheduled for availability in March 2026.
