Chanel Fall-Winter 2018/19 at Paris Fashion Week
By SENATUS Magazine | 7 March 2018

For its Fall-Winter 2018/19 runway show, Chanel transformed its venue at the Grand Palais in Paris into a giant indoor forest complete with dewy scents and rustling dry leaves.

An autumnal palette in the clothes mirrored the oak leaves and green moss that paved the floor. Green, black, beige, gray, russet evoked the months of decay, contrasting with sections of sky blue. Huge statement scarfs in vermilion and saffron added an oversized (but fashionable) touch.

Leaf motifs — such as beech, oak, sycamore — were used as well decoratively on oval or A-line coats that glimmered with metallic thread. Wide coppery pants had a sheen that evoked morning dew.

The fashions of 1910s when Chanel was founded, were softly referenced in a series of fully covered gowns in rich fabric with high Edwardian collars, fastidious embellishments and myriad jewelry.
