A. Lange & Söhne Expands Datograph Chronograph Collection

6 December 2015

By Scott Campbell

This year, A. Lange & Söhne has expanded its range of dial and metals for its Datograph chronograph collection, with two new highly attractive models, one a Datograph Up/Down in 18K pink gold with black dial and the other, an 18K white gold Datograph Perpetual with grey dial.

One of the most popular phonographs amongst watch collectors and enthusiasts, the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph was first resented in 1999 as the world's first column-wheel chronograph with a flyback function, precise jumping minute counter and outsize-date display.

The Datograph Up/Down was introduced recently in 2012, offering a longer power reserve of 60 hours as well as a power-reserve indicator with an Up/Down scale that gave this watch its name.

The chronograph, which previously only came in a platinum case with black dial, is now available in an 18K pink gold version with a black dial after its release during the SIHH 2015 earlier this year.

The Datograph Perpetual had only been available in 18K pink gold case with silver dial up until now, and now an 18K white gold case with a grey dial adds to the selection. The argenté-colored subsidiary dials and deep-blue moon disc on the new model of the Datograph Perpetual stand out particularly clearly thanks to the dial’s subtle grey background.

A. Lange & Söhne's Perpetual Calendar offering does not require correction until 2100, able to take into account month-by-month days as well as adjustments for leap years.

The Datograph Up/Down retails for US$70,200 whilst the Datograph Perpetual for US$137,800.
