Elephant Parade in Singapore

22 April 2011

After the incredible success of previous Elephant Parades in cities all over the world, the public exhibit of Elephant artwork is making its way to Asia.

First stop: the Lion City, Singapore!

On 11/11/11, a herd of over 100 brightly painted life-size elephants will swarm the streets of Singapore for two months. This will be the most colourful outdoor art exhibition (and probably the ‘heaviest’!) this city has ever seen.

Painted by local and international artists, each elephant is a unique piece of art and will set Singapore ablaze with colors at famous landmarks such as the Singapore Zoological Gardens, Esplanade, Marina Bay and more.

After the exhibition all elephants are auctioned off by Sotheby’s. The higher the quality of the art produced, the more money will be raised in aid of the Asian elephant conservation projects throughout Asia.

The Elephant Parade was recently in London in 2010

About Elephant Parade
Elephant Parade is the largest open air art exhibition with painted life size art elephants worldwide in preservation of the Asian Elephant.

It is the world's largest open air exhibition of elephant statues, painted by artists like Tommy Hilfiger, Corneille, Lulu Guiness, Paul Smith, Ans Markus, Diane von Furstenberg, Henk Schiffmacher, Tord Boontje and Prince Michael of Kent.

In 2007, the Dutch Prime Minister auctioned off the first Elephant Parade statue in Rotterdam. Ever since, over 500 different works of art were brought to auction, resulting in over 4 million euro to save the Asian elephant.

Elephant Parade aims to be the largest financial contributor to Asian elephant conservation worldwide.
