The dancefloor's new dial: MB&F unveils the M.A.D.2 World Tour by M.A.D.Editions
By SENATUS Magazine | 30 December 2025

If the original M.A.D.1 was the rebel that broke the rules of horology, the new M.A.D.2 is the second act that spins an entirely different story.

Born from the creative mind of legendary designer and longtime MB&F collaborator Eric Giroud, this timepiece serves as a high-octane love letter to the wild, electrifying spirit of 1990s club culture. Giroud, who traded cold offices for the pulsing basslines of Lausanne’s legendary Dolce Vita and MAD clubs, has infused this machine with the heartbeat of a bygone rave era.

The design is a masterclass in kinetic art that mimics the tactile world of a DJ booth. Its central subdials are reminiscent of turntables, while the dial itself features grooves and satin finishes that pay homage to the texture of vinyl. Surrounding this musical landscape is a platter inspired by the stroboscopic band of the iconic Technics SL-1200, complete with Super-LumiNova stop pins that glow with after-hours energy. This platter functions as an automatic winding rotor, visible from both sides, ensuring that every flick of the wrist sets the rhythm in motion.

While the watch shares the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret movement found in the M.A.D.1S, it introduces a sophisticated horological surprise in the form of a jumping hour complication developed by MB&F. Small metal markers shaped like guitar picks or almond eyes indicate the time with a subtle elegance that belies its complex engineering. The stainless steel case, measuring a smooth 42mm, is shaped like a rounded pebble, a nod to an unrealized 1990s design Giroud affectionately called Almond.

This launch marks a significant shift for M.A.D.Editions, transitioning from the personal vision of Maximilian Büsser to a collaborative platform for new creative chapters.

Two distinct versions celebrate this milestone: a vibrant Orange edition reserved for the brand's loyal inner circle of "Friends and Tribe," and a sleek Green edition available to the public via the brand's signature raffle system. The M.A.D.2 Green just won the Petite Aiguille prize at the famous GPHG awards.

This is a timepiece that is unapologetically bold, beautifully polished, and completely M.A.D..
