Tissot channels retro-futurism with the new Grendizer 50th anniversary edition
By SENATUS Magazine | 29 November 2025

A comet of nostalgia has returned from the stars to grace the world of Swiss horology. In a heartfelt tribute to the 50th anniversary of UFO Robot Grendizer, Tissot has unveiled a special edition PRX that honors the legendary anime created by Go Nagai in 1975. This cosmic homage is strictly limited to 1975 pieces and marks the triumphant return of a hero who has journeyed through time and memory to inspire a new generation.

The design channels the mythic energy of the lone hero who descended from the stars to defend Earth. Crafted in full black PVD-coated steel, this commemorative edition reflects a sleek retro-futurism that carries the magnetic charm of vintage anime mixed with impeccable Swiss savoir-faire. The dial captures a dynamic scene where Grendizer dominates with a clenched fist angled forward as if ready to break through the sapphire crystal. Intricate engravings and layered textures grant the face a sculptural quality that makes the robot stand out with striking realism.

Details are paramount in this collector's piece. The eyes of the robot glow with yellow intensity while Super-LumiNova traces his form to ensure he shines in the dark like a beacon. A particularly luxurious touch is found in the seconds hand which is crafted in 18K gold and shaped like the Double Harken to slice through time with precision. Beneath the hood beats the Powermatic 80 movement which provides an 80-hour power reserve and features a Nivachron balance spring designed to resist magnetic fields.

The magic continues upon turning the watch over. A transparent caseback reveals the movement and a hidden guardian in the form of Grendizer engraved on the oscillating weight. He watches over the mechanism from the shadows like a sentinel from the stars. Each piece is individually numbered with a special engraving that nods to the year the character first lit up screens and imaginations.

The unboxing experience serves as a portal to childhood. The timepiece arrives housed in a Spazer UFO-inspired capsule that is nested within a striking gold and black outer box. Inside the lucky owner will find drawings specially created for this limited edition and hand-signed by Go Nagai himself. It is a reminder that while we cannot go back in time, we can open this box to rekindle a moment of pure childlike wonder.
