Why the selective red numerals on A. Lange & Soehne watches?
By SENATUS Editor | 14 June 2023

The selective red numerals on A. Lange & Soehne timepieces began with a tradition, but now continues also to accentuate its dial design. This intentional usage is exemplified in prominent models such as the RICHARD LANGE in pink gold, 1815 TOURBILLON in platinum, and ZEITWERK DATE.

The RICHARD LANGE continues the tradition of scientific observation watches that offer superior rate accuracy and eminent legibility. This timepiece in pink gold features traditional red units of measurement at 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes.

Meanwhile, the 1815 TOURBILLON in platinum emphasises its quest for historic authenticity by using a red numeral to highlight the 12. Separately printed and fired, the red 12 contrasts against the white enamel dial that undergoes around 30 manual processes to craft.

Lastly, in the ZEITWERK DATE, the current date is highlighted in red for superb legibility and to underline the innovative aspect of the instantaneously jumping date ring. The small coloured segment beneath the date ring performs one jump precisely at midnight.
