A mechanical walking turtle named Kelys and a singing bird Chirp come together in a unique co-creation between MB&F, Reuge and Nicolas Court.
We title this introductory piece a celebration of friends, well, simply because for those of you in the know, MB&F's design roll-outs have always proudly leveraged on a collaboration with "friends", leading lights in various industries to produce limited pieces highly sought after.
And while Kelys & Chirp may look relative simple compared to a complicated watch, inside, it boasts 480 components as many as those required to make a highly-complicated minute repeater timepiece!
This is where Nicolas Court and his team worked their magic: working around the Singing Bird, which is a complete movement itself, they faced significant challenges when developing the turtle automaton mechanism.
The most significant was to create a realistic non-regular gait for the turtle, while ensuring that the synchronised motion and singing of Chirp.
Kelys & Chirp is a limited edition of 18 pieces each in blue, green, yellow and ocre.
