The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph Ref. 5968A unveiled earlier this year at Baselworld is the Genevan manufacture's first-ever chronograph in its sporty and contemporary Aquanaut collection. The self-winding flyback chronograph complication is befitting, perfectly matching the character of this youthful and dynamic timepiece line.
Combining tradition and innovation, the Aquanaut Chronograph features a classic column wheel as well as a modern vertical disk clutch that prevents a rebound of the hand in either direction when the chronograph is started. Because this clutch is virtually friction-free, the chronograph hand can also be used as a continuously running seconds hand.
It comes with orange accents and an orange rubber strap, utilizing a caliber similar to the 5980 Nautilus, which explains the central seconds with 60 minute counter familiarly located at six o'clock.
