Swarovski has collaborated with Jamela Law and Lionel Wong of Baëlf Design on their crystal embellished 3D-printed fashion collection, created as part of the 'DigiMuse Presents' exhibition at the Singapore National Museum which runs from 4 August to 15 October this year.
Jamela Law and Lionel Wong of Baëlf Design unveil 'Beeing Human', a series of dresses and accessories created with 3D printing technology and embellished with 32,000 Swarovski crystals, as part of the ‘DigiMuse Presents’ exhibition. This captivating tribute to nature’s wonders is inspired by the honeycomb, the hexagonal structure unique to the creative powers of bees.
Through the fusion of geometric, architectural and biological forms, the designers convey their desire for environmental preservation and sustainability, and hope to encourage visitors to rethink the relationship between humanity and nature.
New and upcycled Swarovski crystals were incorporated as a creative ingredient, in line with the designers' philosophy of using conscious design elements. The designers selected BioFila Silk, a renewable raw material derived from wood, as the 3D printing filament. BioFila Silk is a sustainable and ethical alternative, as it makes use of leftover silk and silk obtained from responsibly farmed silkworms.
'Beeing Human' will be on display at the DigiMuse Presents exhibition from August 4 – October 15 at the Modern Colony Gallery, National Museum of Singapore. Visitors can view the exhibition during opening hours: 10:00am – 6:30pm.
