Committed to cutting-edge performance, ferocious groundbreaking technology and super-sleek aesthetics, Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis since September 2017 have joined forces with the like-minded Lamborghini Squadra Corse, partnering with the latter's motorsport department to pool their knowledge and expertise.
Indeed, when visionary engineers meet with incredible watchmakers, the end result are timepiece creations that are "Powered by raging mechanics". Slightly over a year into its first roll-out, the Italian aesthetic flair continues to merge with Swiss precision and mechanical instruments.
For 2019, Roger Dubuis has unveiled the aggressive Excalibur Huracán Performante timepiece with a brand-new 'engine,' the RD630 movement with its 12° inclined balance wheel representing the calibre signature associated with Lamborghini.
Design cues from the Italian supercar are immediately noticed in the new timepiece, with the hexagon a critical element. A versatile geometrical figure used to construct the volume of the supercar, it appears throughout the timepiece in various guises and is notably reproduced to symbolise strut bars.
The stand-out half hexagon appearing on the louvered air intakes of the Lamborghini Huracán Performante are repeated as miniature versions visible through the openwork dial of the Excalibur Huracán Performante timepiece.
The crown is inspired by racing nuts on supercar wheels, while other nods to automotive design are executed in the twin-barrel 'energy tank' and a multi-material ‘spoiler’, used for the decorative openworked bridges. From the caseback, the complete circular weight of the automatic movement emulates the design of the wheel rims of Lamborghini’s Huracán family.
The Excalibur Huracán Performante coloured in "Technical Titan Grey" comes with signature bright yellow accents.
Pirelli tyres adorn the Huracàn Performante supercar, and they now also do on the watch, with the lining of the genuine Alcantara strap finished with a rubber inlay featuring the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo™ R tyre-pattern design.
88 privileged owners of this timepiece will also get the opportunity as privileged spectators at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, an international motor racing series held in various cities around the world.
