CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO in Singapore

3 November 2019

By Natalie White

For the first time in Southeast Asia, Cartier will be presenting the exclusive CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO in Singapore. Following the successful global launch of the Clash de Cartier collection in Paris earlier this year, the Maison will be recreating an experiential pop-up in November – allowing for guests to explore the collection in an unconventional and immersive space.

The Clash de Cartier collection is a range of jewellery that simultaneously champions and eschews classic forms, and balances clean design with an excess of energy and a serious spirit with original charm. Clash de Cartier shakes up the Maison's aesthetic heritage of studs, beads and clous carrés. Together, they form a singular, rubbed mesh, which becomes Cartier’s new jewellery signature as imagined by the design studios.

Held at the STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery at Robertson Quay, the pop-u experience will take place from 15 to 17 November.

Echoing the Paris launch, the pop-up will feature similar themes of literature, music and art, all in opposition. Creative works by Michel Gaubert and Thomas Lélu will also be showcased at the CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO, in a vibrant clash of cultures. Furthermore, the space is designed with the main aim for guests to discover the collection in an interactive manner from product inspiration animation to on-site product trying.

The BOOKSTORE will contain books that were specifically curated to display contradictions in genres, content and themes. In this room, guests are able to do a simple personality test to determine their “Clash” alter ego personality, which will be translated into a personalised Haiku poem crafted by the Haiku poets stationed within the room. Each guest's customised Haiku poem will be typed out by an old school typewriter and given to guests to take with them as a memento.

In the RECORD STORE, futuristic sound showers will be installed in the room, where guests will be able to listen to the Clash de Cartier playlist curated by leading French sound designer, Michel Gaubert. The playlist encapsulates the spirit of the Clash de Cartier collection by bringing together a unique clash of attitudes featuring music from different genres ranging from classical to rock. Guests are also able to scan the Spotify code and have the playlist appear in their own Spotify accounts.

The CAFÉ will be the main lounge area, where guests are able to rest and relax, and enjoy their complimentary “Clash” pastry and drink. Embracing the opposition of cultures in Singapore, where East meets West, one half of the CAFÉ will be modelled with local décor while the other half will come with contemporary European metallic design. Adding to the juxtaposition is a daily local DJ performance at the CAFÉ from 15 to 17 November, 6pm to 9pm.

CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO is open to public from 15 to 17 November 2019 at STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery (41 Robertson Quay, Singapore 238236). Pre-registration of an hourly session is available at clashdecartier.sg/register from 25 October onwards.
