Café Hacienda opens on Dempsey Hill

27 August 2009

SINGAPORE Café Hacienda, an extension of the popular Hacienda garden bar, refreshes Dempsey Hill with its intimate décor and high quality offerings at reasonable prices.

To set itself apart from the current establishments in the vicinity, the casual café is painted a cosy shade of powder pink in contrast to rich dark wood fittings, emphasized by an eye-catching selection of artwork, books and knick-knacks.

The homely ambience will appeal to women aged 25 and up – whether it be for breakfast with the kids, a casual lunch with girlfriends, or to spend lazy afternoons reading magazines with a coffee.

However, the opposite sex will also find Café Hacienda scrumptious to visit.

Besides a mouthwatering selection of soups, salads and desserts, the menu will include three irresistible variants of their hand-chopped wagyu beef burgers guaranteed to make any man weak at the knees.

The recipes for the NY Burger and the LA Burger have been reinvented from Privé and Superfamous – sister outlets each with its own cult following for their juicy, wagyu beef patties served a perfect pink. The hot new Spicy Mexican Burger will be a Café Hacienda exclusive, with jalapeno peppers, Monterey jack cheese, guacamole and maple-roasted bacon. Pizzas, paninis, pies and pastas have also found a place on the menu, alongside breakfast items such as Eggs Benedict, waffles and honey granola yogurt.

With the objective of providing the best coffee in the area, Café Hacienda will be working with Highlander Coffee to brew and sell its very own custom blend – the Three Continent Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans.

The artisanal blend comprises beans from South America, Central America, Eastern Arabia and Sumatra. Meticulously roasted in small batches to achieve the beans’ peak flavours, the Three Continent coffee has a distinctly vibrant and fruity taste that is so perfectly-balanced it is delicious straight-up as an espresso, as well as with milk in a latte or mocha.

Fans of the coffee will be able to take home packs of whole coffee beans, with each pack highlighting the roasting date of the beans for a guarantee of absolute freshness. “The simplest things are also the most difficult to do right, and nothing could be simpler than a coffee or tea.” says Michel Lu, director and founder of Hacienda, Café Hacienda as well as several other successful F&B concepts.

To that end, Café Hacienda has also forged a partnership with boutique tea salon TWG Teas to specially curate a selection of teas for its customers. These include familiar blends such as Royal Darjeeling and French Earl Grey amidst other interesting flavours like Vanilla Bourbon and Crème Caramel.

Regulars will be happy to note that offerings from the new outlet will be available to Hacienda as well, and vice versa.

The opening of Café Hacienda marks the first step towards the expansion of the group managed by industry mainstays Michel Lu and Yuan Oeij – the dynamic duo behind Privé and Hacienda, as well as Stereolounge and Stereolab.
