Gregorio Paltrinieri, reigning 1500m Olympic pool champion and winner of the recent US Open in Miami, where he won his first open-water event of the season, is the new Panerai Ambassador for Italy.
In 2015, Paltrinieri set the European Record for the 800m and the World Record for the 1500 m freestyle. Then, at the London 2016 European Aquatics Championships he won two gold medals and set a new record. However, it was only at the Rio 2016 Olympics that he picked up the Gold medal in the 1500m freestyle event.
At the upcoming World Aquatics Championships taking place in Gwangju, South Korea in July 2019, Paltrinieri will compete again to win the gold and qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where he hopes to represent Italy in the world once more.
The first watch Gregorio chose in his new role for the Italian manufacture is the Submersible BMG-TECHTM 47 mm, made of a bulk metallic glass patented by Panerai. It features outstanding properties of strength and resistance as well as a convenient caoutchouc strap for the use in the water, even during the toughest training sessions.
On 11 June 2019, Gregorio Paltrinieri will join the CEO of Panerai for the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Panerai boutique at Via del Babuino 130 in Rome, sealing his collaboration with the watchmaker Maison.
