The Liaoning Provincial Museum in Shenyang, China is hosting an exclusive exhibition of Cartier's collection of jewellery, attended by spokesperson celebrity Zhang Yuqi - who dazzled in the French luxury label's creations at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this summer. Entitled "A Story of Style and Heritage", the exhibition open on 15 September, paying homage to one of the inexhaustible sources of inspiration for the house: China - 30 years after the creation of the Cartier Collection.
"This theme of this exhibition is cultural exchange between East and West. The exhibits show us different art theories and cultural backgrounds," said Ma Baojie, curator of Liaoning Provincial Museum.
300 pieces on display span from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century, and are exhibited together with another 100 masterpieces from Chinese collections at the Shenyang Provincial Museum. It’s a fusion of East and West.
The exhibition is also part of the activities in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relation between China and France.
"The year 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and France. We are going to organise a series of activities in the areas of culture, the economy and technology," said the French Ambassador to China Sylvie-Agnes Bermann.
The collections illustrate the dialogue between the two cultures and demonstrate curiosity and the fascination of European artists for oriental countries.
