London Premiere of 'Star Trek: Into Darkness' at Leicester Square

The Paramount sci-fi sequel made its world debut in the famous London landmark movie theater the Empire, on Leicester Square, attended by director J.J. Abrams and his Star Trek Into Darkness cast, including Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg, who graced the white carpet watched by enthusiastic crowds.

Introducing the movie, Abrams called producer Bryan Burk, writer-producer Damon Lindelof, Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman to the stage before bringing the cast up as well.

"We just want to thank you for your kindness and for waiting," he said before the movie rolled in 3D.

The movie got a warm reception from the audience at the conclusion of the screening. British celebrities attending included Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and comedian John Bishop. The movie's U.K. release date is May 9, ahead of hitting U.S. screens May 17.
