Bugis Street

SINGAPORE Bugis Street was once renowned internationally in the 1950s for its notorious night activities where flamboyantly dressed transvestites would parade themselves attracting Caucasians mainly sailors and military personnel on their Rest & Relax (R & R).

The entire street comes alive in the evening as push carts gathers offering a wide selection of cheap goods and hawker food. Thus, earning its “Pasar Malam” namesake.

Today, Bugis Street has become a unique retail shopping location. With a vast and dynamic product mix, Bugis Street is well known for its wide array of selections, competitive prices and quality goods that cater to anyone and everyone.

Having undergone a new facelift and housing almost 600 shops, Bugis Street can proudly be called the largest street shopping location in Singapore. With the current upgrading, shoppers can expect 800 shops by 2009. Amidst the bustling street, shoppers will be able to find an eclectic mix of trendy streetwear, bags, shoes, watches, souvenirs and unique locally-designed products. Retaining its identity of street shopping, shoppers can put their bargaining skills to test as prices are negotiable, hence Bugis Street’s uniqueness.

Over 70,000 square feet of retail and F&B; concept, Bugis Street is strategically located in the heart of the CBD area tapping businesses from tourists, students, working adults from commercial centers as well as housing residents nearby.

With the National Library Board, Singapore Management University and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in the vicinity, there is always a high traffic flow of shoppers, especially during the weekends.

An Inspired Design Inspired by the nostalgic nature of “pasar malam’ or night market, the concept of Street Shopping was born, creating a unique shopping ambience within Bugis Street. Bugis Street guarantees the sensory experience of vibrancy, liveliness as well as savory smell of local delicacies.

The Only Street Shopping Location Apart from being strategically positioned. Bugis Street plays host to a wide variety of international and local products and services. Evolving a unique blend of retail concepts ranging from apparels to beauty services like manicures and tattoos, shoppers will be constantly surprised with the ever changing product mix and its buzzing activities within Bugis Street.

There is always something for everyone!
